Using a material derived from the shell of crabs, scientist have been able to devise a coating that when scratched is able to heal itself when exposed to regular, everyday sunlight. This chemical, says Professor Howell Edwards, a chemist at the University of Bradford, could eventually lead to automobiles that repair their own scratches.
