Tele-Commuting with a Robot

Using the Texai, a robot that looks like a vacuum cleaner sporting a a microphone, speakers, two cameras and an LCD monitor which projects a live image of the robot user's head, Mike Beltzner can quite literally roll into the company's California office while sitting in front of his laptop in Toronto.

While still limited -- Texai can't use stairs, press elevator buttons or see who is walking beside him -- it allows a far more personal level of interaction than plain-old conference calling or video chatting.
