Alan Taylor for TheBoston.com has put together this photo gallery of the large-scale events happening in North Korea. The dictatorship is celebrating the 65th anniversary of the founding of its ruling Workers' Party, and to introduce heir apparent Kim Jong Un to the North Korean people and the world.
Looking at these photos I can't help but wonder: are North Koreans really so dangerous? Their soldiers and military equipment look like Cold War era rejects; meanwhile Kim Jong Un looks so bored, he probably just wants to go back to playing with his X-Box while munching on Twinkies.
Maybe North Korea should just open up its borders, build casinos and offer elaborate entertainment shows, which is just about the only thing it knows how to do well.
