American Union Protests Spread from Wisconsin to Ohio and Indiana

After Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker proposed a budget bill that would strip the state's unions of their collective bargaining rights, at least 30,000 Wisconsin citizens have turned out to protest. The governor is threatening to respond by calling in the National Guard -- and some are suggesting the use of live ammunition on the crowds, a move that would make Gaddafi proud.

Despite these threats, the unrest has now spread throughout the mid-western United States, and labour activists in Ohio and Indiana are also protesting against pending anti-union legislation.

BuzzFeed website has put up a gallery and Slate magazine a slide-show of some of the best signs protesters are holding up, showing that, despite the angst and anger, a sense of humour still thrives.
