Paul Stamatiou, a designer at Twitter, switched from his iPhone to an Android. Originally, the change was only going to be for a week, but after a month not only did he not miss anything about his iPhone, "two months in I sold my iPhone 5 and iPad Mini."
When it comes down to it, my love of Android lies heavily with the way Android handles notifications. These aren't your useless "read-only" iOS notifications that just launch the app. I've thought about notifications a lot while I was working on the notifications team; how to keep the user in control and make it clear what each notification is actually saying.
Android just knocks it out of the park here.
And Android, it turns out, isn't just better from a user perspective, but from that of developers as well. App developer audobox explains how, in contrast with Apple, Android provides a bullshit-free breath of fresh air:
Development on iOS is broken.
Paying for a developer account to run your own code on your own hardware. Waiting weeks for your app to clear the review process. Having to make sure that everything is perfect before you ship, because fixes will take days to reach your users. Does any of this sound familiar?
